Membership

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is one of the most inclusive genealogical societies in the country.

Any woman 18 years or older—regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background—who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.

If you would like to come to a Fort Massac DAR chapter meeting you do not need to fill out an application. Everyone is invited to attend and meet members who can help in your research. For more information on attending please look for our Calendar of Events.

What is the Process?

Discover your family history.

Find your patriot ancestry and his or her proof of service. Your patriot did not have to serve in the Revolutionary Army to have eligible service. He/she could have provided civil or patriotic service by funding the war or supporting soldiers.

Contact Fort Massac chapter to begin your application process. Contact our chapter’s registrar for help.

The DAR application process requires proof for each generation, starting with yourself and going back to your patriot ancestor. For more information on the acceptable types of proof, contact our registrar.

Are You Eligible?
