Organized on November 20, 1922, by Mabel Small McKinstry, the Kankakee Chapter, NSDAR, includes all communities within Kankakee County. The chapter's emphasis is the youth of our community through sponsoring the DAR American Essay Contest and the DAR Good Citizens awards. We also provide comfort items for our veterans at the Manteno Veterans Home and promote historic preservation by marking significant landmarks and graves.
