The Rock River Chapter NSDAR host several programs and projects to honor our patriot ancestors by fostering historical preservation, education, and patriotism. We work together on activities that promote American heritage, service for veterans, preservation of genealogical records, commemorative events, conservation, scholarships for students, and other activities sponsored by our chapter.
Patriotism
Constitution Week is recognized by the chapter. Posters are displayed in 4 area libraries with books that complement Constitution Week. Posters are also displayed in 4 area public buildings.
Education
Our chapter, awards scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of education and acknowledges a deserving senior who are chosen by their school as their DAR Good Citizen winner.
Historical Preservation
Our chapter, toured the Lincoln-Manahan Home Museum, in Sterling, Illinois. Before he became President, Abraham Lincoln stayed overnight in this now-restored home.
Service to Veterans
Rock River Chapter, NSDAR, members attended and participated in ceremonies honoring veterans and first responders at Resthave, Morrison. Members filled “goody bags” for veteran residents. The gift bags included gripper socks, shampoo, lotion and candy.
Community Service
The Rock River Chapter, NSDAR, Day of Service Project — school supplies purchased and donated to the Regional Office of Education for distribution to area children.
Rock River Hospice
Our entry in the “Festival of Trees”, an activity to support Rock River Hospice.

100 Years of Service to Our Community
The Rock River Chapter, NSDAR, celebrated its 100th anniversary on May 17, 2018.
NSDAR National Day of Service
Donations of various school supplies and clothing were delivered by a Chapter member to the Crow/Cree Indian Reservation, SD. Our Day of Service reached the educational needs of Indigenous People many miles away.
Chapter Activities

Nachusa Grasslands — our chatper helps support the restoration of the buffalo herd and native plants by volunteering our time, and monetary donations.
