Captain Lemuel May, son of Benjamin and Mary May, was born on February 20, 1738/1739, in Roxbury, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. Lemuel would marry Abigail Davis on December 15, 1768, in Roxbury, Massachusetts, at the age of 29. Lemuel and Abigail would have two daughters, Abigail May Brewer born 1769; and Mary May Wales born January 15, 1772, Jamaica Plains, Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts and died August 15, 1867 at age 95 in Northfield, Washington County, Vermont; as well as a son named Benjamin. Benjamin is believed to be a half brother of Abigail and Mary. He was born December 17, 1781 and passed on August 5, 1833.
Lemuel died on November 10, 1805, of consumption. He is buried at the First Church in Jamaica Plain Cemetery, Jamaica Plain, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. It is not known where Abigail is buried. It is through their daughter Mary May, that the family descended to those living today in Kankakee County, Illinois.
Mary May was born January 15, 1772, in Jamaica Plains, Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts. She would marry William Wales on March 13, 1794, in Dorchester, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. William was born March 21, 1767, in Dorchester. He would pass on March 17, 1849, in Northfield, Washington County, Vermont. She would join him on August 15, 1867, in Northfield. Both William and Mary are buried there at the Mount Hope Cemetery. Their children were Mary May Wales Haslett, William Wales, Olivia Wales, Nancy Wales, Lemuel Wales, Abigail Wales, Benjamin May Wales, Aaron Kingsley Wales and Catherine Wales.
Mary May Wales was born January 19, 1794 in Northfield, Washington County, Vermont. She would marry William Whitewell Haslett on October 14, 1814 ,in Roxbury, Massachusetts. William was born October 20, 1782, in Claremont, Sullivan County, New Hampshire. Mary and William were the parents of William, Henry, Mary Ann, Olive, Harriet Almira, May Wales, Charles Brewer, George Henry, Levi Glazier and Caroline Elizabeth. Their family moved to Illinois in 1831. Mary passed away away on January 24, 1854, at Momence, Kankakee County, Illinois, and William on September 21, 1861, in Momence. They are both buried in the Momence Cemetery, Momence, Kankaee County, Illinois.
