John Weller Jr.

John Weller Jr., was born on September 11, 1749, in Mechanicsburg, Frederick County Maryland, the son of Johannes Weller Sr. (1716‐1792) and Catharine Solome Ambrose (1724‐1804). His father, Johannes "John" Weller (#A122114) was also a revolutionary patriot, born May 24, 1716, Bavaria Germany, he was around 60 years old when he joined in 1776. He was a supply wagon teamster in the German Battalion under the command of Nicholas Haussegger. He crossed the Delaware River with General George Washington and was present at the Battle of Trenton and the Battle of the Assunpink Creek. His granddaughter, Anna Maria Weller, married Jacob Beam (1787–1843) the son of Johannes "Jacob" Beam the founder of Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey. His great grandson was William Larue Weller who's famous for his Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey. Johannes died March 11, 1792, Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, in an accident when a horse he was leading down a hillside trail fell on him. He is buried in the Apples United Church of Christ Cemetery, in Frederick County.
