February 18, 1932. An elm tree was dedicated on the grounds of the Illinois State Centennial Building (now called the Michael J. Howlett Building) at Second Street and Edwards in Springfield, with the following text "Dedicated in honor of the Bicentennial of the Birth of George Washington." The DAR marker is unfortunately missing.
