DAR Marker: First church

 

 

September 26, 1929. The southeast corner of Fifth, at Monroe Street, was dedicated as the location of the first church in Springfield. The Methodist Episcopal Church was erected in 1830. The church now known as First United Methodist Church sits on the corner of Koke Mill Road and Wabash Avenue in Springfield. Click the photo for a larger image.
