Welcome!
The Barbara Standish Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is an active group of women who, since 1905, have worked to foster the ideals of our National Society: Patriotism, Historic Preservation, and Education. We participate in many worthwhile activities and keep the spirit of our Revolutionary ancestors alive.
We Have a Proud Heritage!
Any woman 18 years or older -- regardless of race, religion, or ethnic
background -- who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the
American Revolution is eligible for membership. Contact us to attend a chapter
meeting. You can learn more about becoming a member here.
DAR offers many opportunities for service, such as working with youth,
encouraging members to get involved in their communities, to assist
with historic preservation and patriotic events, and promoting the
preservation of our family and local histories. It is a way to work
with others to make America a better place to live. Please take a
look around our website and if you think you are eligible, are
interested in joining, or wish to visit our chapter, please contact us.
What is the DAR?
The DAR is a women's service organization. Members share several common bonds: each descends from someone who served the cause of American independence and are interested in making a difference in her communities through projects focusing on historic preservation, patriotism, and education.
What do we do?
Good news: there are members of our chapter who are willing to help you with your research and application.
