The first Barbara Standish Chapter Junior member in over 20 years was given the Oath of Membership by Chapter Regent Carol Hicks. Above, State Regent Frizzell presents 'History of the DAR' to the new member during a joint meeting of Barbara Standish and Princess Wach-E-Kee chapters on October 17, 2015.

Barbara Standish Chapter members honored the Vietnam veterans by volunteering to plant flowers this year in the Memorial's urns located at McFerren Park in Hoopeston. A memorial service was held for the two fallen soldiers of the Vietnam War, Joseph Kelnhofer and William Gooden. Also honored was Jeffrey Wallace who died in Iraq and flowers were filled in his flower urns also. Those attending the ceremony were Ruth Neathery, Nancy Thorn, Eileen Layden, Pam Bell and Carol Hicks (not shown).
Find Your Patriot
Can We Add Your Patriot's Name to
our List?
We
invite you to take a look at the names of the patriots
belonging to our chapter members. Do you see a familiar name? Your
ancestor did not have to fight to be considered a patriot. There were
many ways of contributing to the cause, including public service and
contributing food, clothing, shelter and other items for the troops.
Perhaps one of your ancestors was a woman who constructed uniforms or
flags? The DAR has a searchable database containing information
on proven patriots and descendants of past and present DAR members. You
can look for your own patriot on the DAR
Genealogical Research System.
We
would love to add his or her name to our list and have you as a
member of our chapter.
