Stephen Decatur Chapter celebrated Abraham Lincoln's birthday Thursday, February 12, 1970, by placing a plaque on Mr. Lincoln's statue in Lincoln Square, Decatur, Illinois.
Mrs. James J. Hamm, Vice President General NSDAR, made the speech of dedication. 
Mr. James Rupp, Mayor, welcomed spectators. Mrs. Charles E. Lee, Chapter Historical Marker Chairman, unveiled and presented the plaque to the Heritage Committee, which was accepted by Mr. Otto Kyle, Historian for the Heritage Committee.
Boy and Girl Scouts, Troop 82, were led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag by Mrs. Paul G. Meyer, NSDAR Flag Chairman. "God Bless America" was sung by Mr. Howard Brown, Superintendent of Macon County Schools. State Representative, Webber Borchers, was Master of Ceremonies at the dedication and at the following luncheon in Hotel Orlando.
