Our chapter's DAR Good Citizens recipients with our chapter’s DAR Good Citizens Chair Rita! All three ladies attended our February meeting and read their essays to the chapter members in attendance. Congratulations to these three incredible young ladies!
Historic Preservation
True daughter presentation for Abigail Stearns Root, daughter of Asa Stearns. Abigail was born in Vermont 1785 and died 1873. She is buried in the Main Street Cemetery, located on Main Street in Downers Grove, Illinois. Downers Grove Chapter, NSDAR, worked in conjuction with the Downers Grove Historical Society on this project. Abigail was named a founder of Downers Grove at the same ceremony. It was a very special day. Abigail's 4th great granddaughter, was also in attendance!
