Shelby County Dive Team
The Governor Edward Coles-Sally Lincoln Chapter was proud to preseant a DAR Distinguished Citizen award to the Shelby County Dive Team. A tubing recovery incident convinced the chapter to present the award to the team. The award was previously an individual award. However the Dive Team commander declined an individual award calling the recue "a team effort." Then chapter regent Julie Elbert requested the team award, which was approved by the National Society. The award is presented to someone who exemplifies honor, service courage, leadership and patriotism, and contribute to the defense, security or freedom of the community, state or nation in an exceptional manner.
